Once we hear that the weather in Zermatt (where the Matterhorn can be seen) is bad we decide to try our luck at the glacier above Aigle. Our day starts off with a trip to Aigle and a cable car ride up the mountain.
Local met on train ride. She lives in Ollon and rides this train every week.
The town of Les Diablerets (1150m)....destination of many mountain sport seekers. Looks like the Disney version of Switzerland.

Gondola ride to the top was 39 CHF. Due to limited to no visibility and expenses we decided to hike the beautiful areabelow (2500m) instead of going up the mountain. At the glacier, a storm can be unpleasent and visibility can be zero when a storm comes through. You can ski 365 days a year though.

In downtown Montreaux, the two week long Jazz festival was going on...... Free admission. There we met people from all over the world who came to see this festival. One couple we meet came from Pennsylvania, USA.
